In between call outs to work I had some time in the shop. I made up a new pricker thanks to robbo and others.the brass tube arrived which gave me a U turn back out to the garage….. 2mm 1.5mm and .75.I bought acupuncture needles and my mission begun. At the end the nrv gave me more trouble than anything but the joy of seeing this old lamp alive was amazing and a light to the new year.cheers all of you
Congratulations Roy, it's working nicely. FYI. The retaining clip you have installed on the filler cap should be on the pump. It stops the pump accidentally coming up and getting in the way.
Holy ell, thanks Robbo,so much happening at one time I missed the obvious.lucky I fitted a new nrv seal. Today I’ve started the othe 1a and had to fabricate a new generator….. cut ,set height and silver braze but the barrel for the cleaning tip wouldn’t fit so drilled out.that all worked out until I saw a crack on the tank.
It has two from bottom of flange up.not leaking.already had one heavy solder from its past life. Silver 15% solder woul be ideal if I inverted the tank so the base soler doesn’t run.
Roy, stress cracks in these painted founts is common. Lead solder is normally used for the repais rather than silver braising.
Well I got out there and ripped into it.I cleaned well and used 15% silver solder redoing the bad soft solder also. I then went back and re did the base soft solder that ran out with the heat. Clean up time now.
Nice work, again. If you like to keep practicing I’ve got a small pile of stress-cracked Aladdin 1As. Cheers Tony
Nice work Roy. At some point the hoods have been swaped . The one with half a line of holes belongs on the 119.
