I have just testified this lovely Bat 51 lantern after a rebuild. It is currently running without a glass or needle, I have a new unbranded glass and some Hasag needles somewhere that will hopefully fit when I can get to them. It cleaned up really well which I was pleased about. It was a pretty straightforward fettle, one thing that nearly caught me out was the NRV barrel having a left hand thread, luckily I had read somewhere on here that that can happen and that thought popped into my head before I damaged anything. The control spindle took some getting apart as someone had once fixed a leak with some sort of glue. My spare petromax graphite did not fit so I used a viton rubber tube intended for a Tilley lamp. It is a bit stiff but works for now. Filler cap and pump washers were veritas 350 spares. This lamp is a rebranded Hasag 51 for the UK market is marked as foreign and NOT marked made in Germany. I would assume it would also carry across the A designation for having a spirit cup pre heater as well. My best guess for a date would be early 1930's I am quite pleased with this one. Or the bat cave ? Sorry too good to miss. It is going well and looks clean I have had luck with graphite tape where graphite packing was not available.
