It was manufactured before 1939 by Hugo Schneider AG under the brand name BAT, which Hugo Schneider AG had previously acquired from Stuebgen, and which was used for some of their export lamps/lanterns. However, I must correct the original post, as the table lamps were called Type 55L/A or 355L, as opposed to the Type 51L/A or 351L lanterns.
@WimVe You are welcome, the pleasure was mine. @Martin K. You are correct with the general model number of a hasag table lamp being 55L / A or 355 The bat table lamp was until a few days ago a lantern. After a hasag 55L table lamp turned out to be a bad buy I attached the column to the lantern simply because it fitted. The steel 351L is marked as such and there are also other examples of a 351L table lamp in the gallery, I will try and post some links. I am fully aware this is also the designation for the lantern and was used for decades. This lamp came to me in a rough condition but appeared to be a genuine example and is a match for the other two. Construction is a random mix of brass and steel.
Hopefully some links to the gallery. HASAG 351L Table lamp Hasag No.351L (Tablelamp) Sticker a three angles. Bat 51
These 351L table lamps seem all to be made by Starklicht Otte Bochum (a formerly known re-seller here in Germany). I have one of those 351L table lamps too. My guess is that Otte used lanterns and re-built them as table lamps without changing the labels.
It's fascinating how items can be transformed and given new life in different ways. By the way, I noticed a variety of table lamp shades. Are you suggesting that these lamp shades here Table Lamp Shades - Over 300 Quality Shades Perfect for Any Table Lamp would be a good fit for the 351L table lamps as well? It would be great to hear your thoughts on how these lamp shades might enhance the aesthetic appeal of the 351L lamps or if you have any specific recommendations for lamp shades that would complement their design.
@delam3 Modern lamp shades typically consist of or contain plastic material. This will not withstand the heat of a pressure lamp. A proper lamp shade should be made of paper or cotton. I guess.
Thank you for sharing. and yes it is advisable to use lamp shades made of paper or cotton, as they are more heat-resistant and can provide better performance.
