Hi All Ive had my AL-15 for a while and decided to make a copy of the stand to make it a AL-16. However, i Wanted to make it easily removable and not permanent. so using some 1" strip steel I bent all the angles and the bottom ring of the stand on my fly press, which made the job a alot easier! I then drilled and hot riveted it all together, like the original, and welded the base ring together, and gave it a lick of paint, then replaced the original dome head screws on the lamp with wing bolts for ease of fitting. sadly i didnt picture it step by step, but here are the results... The Fly Press All together At work Overall im very happy with how it turned out, its really sturdy, balanced and dosent move much when being pumped, and better yet it looks the part, i thinkso anyway! also, im thinking of making a track side AL8 / AL9 stand and cobbling together a light from a tilley radiator, if I do decide to, I will do it step by step process. Ive also nearly finished a tripod for my FL6 which i will post when its finished. Many thanks
Very good work. It looks solid and stable. The wooden handle is a good idea. For carrying and probably for stability while pumping. I like it. Greetings
Thanks Knee, as far as im aware the wooden handle is original, it came with the lamp and in the catalogue it shows a wooden handle. Im glad you like it. Regards
Thanks for making me aware. Forgive my ignorance. To tell the truth, I never had to deal with this lamp. Greetings
