Two Coleman Check Valves

Each of these came from two different Coleman Quicklite tanks from the late 1920s.

Are both correct for that period?

1. Smooth face:




2. Stepped:




Are both correct? Or is the first one a ring-in?

Thanks a good question, never seen #2.

 

Update:

I found another Coleman Quicklite, with the first (smooth face) check valve. It is also the same date "9 3" (USA).
