I just love this lamp although I would like to see a nice shade on it. The condition was very good when I got it except for a few missing bits and the chrome on the base being in 199628A4-4184-414F-9A92-F91366E0B633.jpeg 747135AF-45F1-4E21-9448-749D58BE17F0.jpeg a bit of a mess. I had it re-chromed as I couldn’t bear to leave it and it cost less than I’d imagined. I managed to source a NOS T44G generator and spirit cup and amongst my own stuff a couple of NOS burner tubes. Unfortunately John couldn’t free up the old ones so we left them. Someone had already tried and squashed them slightly. The globe came with the lamp.
Half of the decal is gone, is there anyone here who would be willing and able to make a repro one for me? Neil has a perfect decal on his 138.

The chrome looks marvellously done and so worthwhile for an uncommon lamp. Congratulations on the restoration.

Wow Jean, that looks absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to see it 'in the flesh' as it were. It's rather like a Coleman version of a Tilley VL.

Yes Colin, I’ll certainly show it off to you when you come over. If only it was a black Tilley VL!

A beautiful lamp, even more so now thanks to your efforts.
Good luck finding a shade for it.

Thanks James but really very little effort on my part. Not sure which if any shade would be suitable, maybe best left as is.

Haven’t found a shade yet but had this pleated Tilley or Aladdin one missing its frame. Had a top hanger made but haven’t found a suitable finial for it. Dia at bottom of shade is 10” but I think it needs to be wider. What do you folks think?

I think the shade needs to be wider at the bottom and more tapered.

    @Jean J

The dimensions of the Coleman shade of mine that you quite like are:

    Diameter at top ~22cm (9”)
    Diameter at base ~32.5cm (13”)
    Vertical height ~19.5cm (7.5”)

    Cheers

I have a spare 14” wire, will see what that looks like but think it will bring the shade up too much and show too much of the globe and other bits.

I have just found a thread that said the bottom ring for the Tilley shade measured 343 mm?
    Hope that helps,
    regards

Will that’s halfway between Tony’s 13” and my wire at 14” so close enough.

Just found your post @Konabill, great find. I’ve been lucky sometimes too with auction odd descriptions. How much do you intend doing to it, is the base just mucky or will it need re-plating? I had mine re chromed but of course it should have been nickle plated. Look forward to seeing more pics soon.
