Greetings - Pulled the trigger today after lurking around this site getting familiar to what is an Aladdin Blue Flame Heater. Thanks to Kevin, who saved this Model 37 from a barn on his property! An unmolested true blue Craigslist barn find (pics below). Pics show upper top removed. Appears to be a Canadian model with a Logo from the late 70's or later? Was able to clean the most important label revealing the model type and country of origin (methinks). From what I've read on this site, the tilt snuffer puts this Model 37 at the later part of production run - yes, no? Goal is to fully restore the heater to solid working order and use it as intended. Drawn to it due to utilizing a blue flame (hotter and more efficient). Plus has that retro mid-century modern mojo going for it! Any insight on operating, tricks, quirks and temperaments are appreciated and welcomed. Did not come with the wick trimmer/conditioner, so that going to be challenging to find. Pondering if one can be made either by metallic 3D printing with a CAD drawing or make one. Best, Mark
Welcome. Wick trimmers are available on e-bay quite readily. Hattersley and Basecamp in the UK also have them. Look on the internet for those. You need the 3" one if it is on ebay. Manuals can still be bought as well. Apart from the extinguisher trip, the 32 is much the same. Earlier versions don't have the same extinguisher, and even earlier ones have none at all. Does the wick go up and down? If not ,my post here Aladdin series 32 heater may help. The 37 was the last production of the Aladdin heaters, which were discontinued in the 1970s. The chimney is stove enamelled, as is the top. They will usually clean up with T-cut and car polish. The painted parts can be cleaned with paraffin (maybe called Kerosene in your part of the world). With a clean wick and decent fuel they are good heaters. Let us know how you get on.
