    Tilley lamp IL 37
this lamp would have been used in railway signal boxs ect
it could be hung from the ceiling but on a wall bracket and set on a standard type lamp stand
this lamp was not for sale after 1945..

A fine addition to your collection and it's one model that I'm still hoping to add.

    Hi Kenny,

    gratulation.

I was thinking by myself that there can be only

one person, who can do this.

Hello David, that's true, but sometimes it's a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

I can always hope anyway! Jeff.

This is indeed a rare lamp. I do know of a few in captivity though. Well three this one of Kenny's makes four although mine is missing the reflector. ::Neil::

As a collectors forum we have a policy here of not giving valuations. Speaking only for myself, I would say that value is a very subjective thing and depends on many variables such as locale, condition, desirability, availability, etc. As a collector, I quite understandably want to pay as little as necessary for lamps and feel that it is neither my responsibility nor in my interest to educate sellers about pricing. As always, the free market principle of willing seller, willing buyer applies. For a rough idea of the current market value of an item, you can always look at the sold listings for similar items on e.g. ebay.

Here are two more IL37s. Despite looking sorry for themselves, sadly these are part of a museum’s permanent collection and are not for sale. I’ve asked…

That’s so frustrating Phil. My local Heritage Society has an early KL80 harp frame and a copper conversion lamp with the early all brass control cock. If it had been only on loan I might have been able to approach the owner but it had been gifted, so no luck. However some time later I found one for sale although it was missing the control cock and smoke bell. You just never know what’s around the corner Phil.

Sometimes smaller museums are up for "swaps" instead of sales. Especially if they have two of something.
