Well blanchard lamps are rare enough but they often require lots of work to make them go least all the lamps that have come my way. Here are the burners off a market stall lamp that has been upgraded to electric needless to say the burners had suffered badly. The vapouring tube had been cut off and a 7mm hole drilled right thro the fuel supply pipe for a wire i suppose This all needed repair before going any further. First off i cut the heat disc off the fuel supply pipe and cleaned up areas to be soldered. The burner on the right is what it should be like. I then cut new tubing a soldered it up with hard grade silver solder. Once this was done i plugged the drilled hole on the inner end of the fuel pipe and soldered up with medium silver solder. Now i had to put the disc back When i cut them off i lost a bit of metal so i had to put a bit in used easy grade solder Back on so it was just plug the vapouriser tube bottom and solder up Seen here after flux removal looks a bit more like it Cheers pete
Something the vintage car and motorbike restorers haven’t until now had to face - electrification of a fuel burner by a previous owner. Maybe one day they will when they open the bonnet and see just batteries and a motor. Great work as ever Pete. John

Thanks for the comments lads @Tony Press @JEFF JOHNSON @presscall @Rangie Today i drilled a 1/8 hole from the fuel supply pipe into the new vapouriser pipe otherwise no fuel can enter the burner I then sorted out some bits so i could plug all the holes up so i could pressure test the burner casings. When sealed up i connected each burner to my airline and tested for leaks Checked both burners at 2 bar and no air leaks so the repair is good so far will carry on with the assembly of the burners as time allows Cheers pete
