Would love to be there Pete, but too far for me this weekend. Have a great weekend, I've done my Inca sun-dance, just hope it works for you all. Steve.
Well your sun dance did the trick steve was a nice dry sunny weekend tho a bit of a wind at times Members Maurice and Stan appeared at the fair so there was plenty of lamp chat and a fair bit of intrest from the scout leaders who attended over the weekend intrested in the lamps Heres some pictures over 2 posts think there is a limit on 20? cheers pete
Great Photos! You could have tried to fit some mantles on the exhaust pipes of the engine, would have given a bright light for sure!
yes you could make some toast really quick on that engine so noisy tho and of course it was near our pitch so had to listen to it all weekend!!!! pete
I thought he ran it only three times a day, Pete, for 5 minutes a time... It's a great thing, though - beats my Lister D into a cocked hat! On the other hand, his fuel bill must be a bit eye-watering...
The Meteor is a powerful machine which sound wasn't too un-common here not so long ago. And a fabulous sound it was, I must add. Sweden still used upgraded Centurions when I did my service 1989-90. The odd one even appeared later during the 90's refresher courses. Magnificent sound even when muffled as with the tanks. There are some guys who recently built a mahogny boat from old drawings, and they used two Meteor engines of 1000 HP each from discarded Centurions. It sounds like a couple of Spitfires when they approach, just not in the air.
