This is a Lanterne D-206 made by Hipolito in Portugal.Probably from 1976.A very good lantern. The same technology as Hipolito H-202 or Petromax 827 or Geniol 250 cp.

I have these Lanterne brand lanterns listed as Fama product. Fama was the brand name for a stove made in a factory set up in Porto in 1940 by a Swedish company which I suspect might have been Optimus. They were taken over by Hipolito in 1956 and the lamps are sometimes labeled with both Fama and Lanterne brands with some also branded as Feuerhand. With that post 1964 pre heater torch it has to be a Hipolito product from the 1960s-1970s and probably a Petromax copy. ::Neil::

    Admittedly,difficult chapter.
I would list the lantern shown under Hipolito as the manufacturer.
The old Fama brand lanterns looked like the old Hipolito ones as shown in the photo with the three lamps ,250cp .(Fama,Hipolito,Geniol)

The younger lanterns marked Fama look like the H-series from Hipolito or Petromax, Geniol and others. The D-306 and D-506 initially had vertical Ventilation slots, other hoods and pressure gauges. The number Codes on the underside of the tanks of these D-206,306,506 were stamped using the same systems as the lanterns of other brands manufactured as Petromax copies at Casa Hipolito from 1974/75

There are also 100,200? and 300 cp lanterns from Hipolito. They are older than all Fama marked lamps I have seen so far.Maybe the stove manufacturer Fama never made complete pressure lamps themselves ?

Yes difficult but I generally list by brand not manufacturer and Fama is stamped on the lamps and Hipolito is not so that is what folk will look for. ::Neil::

My 5 "LANTERNE"s say Geniol and not Fama.Fama is rarely found on these lanterns.Probably only if they were made by Hipolito for Fama and sold by Fama.As far as I know " LANTERNE" is not a registered brand.
"LANTERNE " was just a collective term.

Yes and I don't list Lanternes as such. The PLC shows the name but refers to Fama and Feuehand which in turn will lead to Hipolito. As you say it's difficult and not a simple matter to know what might be considered correct so I list what appears on the product and Lanterne does appear on the labels as in this D506 which has a Fama brand marked outer hood. ::Neil::

Yes , I understand you.I estimate that more than 90% of these"LANTERNE" were sold under the brand name Geniol. When Heinze had his own nameplates made for his Geniol brand, there were only very few " LANTERNE" left and they probably only produced sporadically for small custumors such as Fama and Feuerhand.

I am obviously missing a lot here. I don't list any Geniol-Lanterne lamps in either the Geniol or Lanterne/Fama lists. It would be most helpful if you could give me details and images of your 5 examples please. Probably best as PM or email. ::Neil::
