Dears, Please find below my Coleman 249 from 12.1950 made in Canada. Definitely my cutest lamp. Quiet and going strong with Optimus 250CP mantle no. 4. Glass is cracked but good enough for me. Generally in really good shape according to my standards All parts original but I had some adventures and had to fix: 1. Priming cup – damaged during disassembling, so I had to silver solder it 2. I f...ed up burner tube threading and had to fix it: Right size of die for Coleman 249 burner tube help needed. 3. I also f...ed up generator nut threading and had to fix it: Another tap and die help needed for Coleman 249 4. I was not able to unscrew and remove the main valve from the tank but fortunately I was smart enough to give up before damaging the tank ...but it was close, because me and my vice did not want to "lose" with that small lamp... 5. Generator was seriously clogged and to get out those coiled wires from it was a nightmare. It was then, while tapping the generator to get out those “springs” I damaged the generator nut. Of course those coiled wires from generator did not resemble original shape when finally were out. So I had to reshape them again coiling on proper diameter steel rods... and put one inside the other… and put needle assembly rod inside them… and put everything inside the generator tube again… All these parts did not fit like new parts. To do it needle assembly rod was reduced in diameter a bit. The bigger coiled rod diameter was reduced as well – you can see how it looked before and after “jerking” between sandpaper. Smaller coiled wire was also "jerked" with steel wire inside it to make more space for needle rod. Yes I was missing Petromax generators doing all that and thinking about shipping prices of new parts from US to Poland. Maybe nothing special about 249 in America, but it looks great IMHO, still all original parts, works, provided me some memorable lessons and several new taps and dies Have a great day, Piotrek
