Thanks to Keith, who is not yet a member here he has allowed me to post a picture of his Bialaddin 300X with one of my new caps fitted. Another nice old lamp restored; well done Keith.
Very nice indeed Steve the finnished lamp and the hood cap. I must say the hood caps are realy well made and look awsome. I was looking in the members services at them, and the amount of work involved they are a bargain. This feature of the 300x is why it is my favourite, model of the bialaddin range of storm lanterns. Its a pity it would be very expensive to have one enammeled,as lantern like the Optimus and the 300x with there plaited or brass lamps with there enammeled hood cap realy looks nice and sets the lamp off a treat. But a all brass hood cap would look nice on the 300 series. I have seen a good few 300,s missing there hood caps, due to either rusting away or some how getting lost, well done there Steve on a grand job
Thanks Mr Opti for your comments, they are most welcome. I was a bit apprehensive about how the members were going to react to these caps, but so far I have had only good reactions. Steve.
Hi Steve your welcome even though it is nice, to have any collectable antique no matter what it is with all parts original, but its not possible. And it is brilliant when people can make these parts that are missing. And when they can be made allmost or identical to the original, then it is brilliant. To me the Bialaddin 300X is one of the best looking storm lanterns Bialaddin made, and yet with out just the hood cap the apearence has completely changed. As mentioned before if only it was cheap and practicle to have them enammeled,i would be happy to swap one yours with the original i have on my 300X which i am at the moment restoring
