Hi All, This is my latest BowlFire fettle and I show two pictures; one with the traditional BowlFire guard (often missing!) and the second, with one of Kerophiles modern replacement guards fitted. I am torn between which one stays fitted; I like them both. Thanks George, I told you that I would get a BowlFire oneday, and I did, with a guard!! Sod's law eh! Steve.
Hi Steve. I've also got one of George's guards and was using it only yesterday. Lit the Bowlfire at 12 noon and it was still going late evening. I kept glancing at it expecting it run out any minute. Eventually turned it off at 1145 PM! Regards, Terry
Yes, they are very good lamps Terry. Knock the socks off a Tilley R1. It provides plenty of heat for my shed and by the time I have a lamp or two running as well it gets a bit like a sauna! Steve.

I would like George keep the original on your bowl fire,as 50% or more i have seen for sale, have there wire guard missing,so if you buy another that has the wire guard missing,you can Fit George's guard on and then when you need to ude a bowl fire in your shed you can choose which fire to use,one fitted with a original guard or the one with George's guard fitted
What are the large, round, rings on the side of the horizontal ribbed guard meant for? I can't figure out any purpose of those.
I think it is George letting out his deep hidden Scandinavian stylistic talent Christer! And, also stamping his own design onto a product, not trying to imitate a classic old design. The Vikings have a lot to answer for over here! Steve
David, I think that the brothers that created Lidl and Aldi were originally Asians from Uganda, they emigrated to Germany to avoid the "trouble" and set up rival corner shops that became the "Empires" that we know now. What a shame that we did not let them into the UK! We could use a few like them in this country now. Steve
I bought a compressor from Aldi a couple of months ago and thought that was a strange thing to get from a supermarket. I never new they sold bowl fire guards though.
Yeh but my local one needs a pound to release the trolleys. That's nearly as expensive as the BBQ's they sell inside. Probably not as well made though. Best regards Matt.
Cheapskate... Get yourself some 3mm nitrile, cut a circle out the same diameter as a £1 coin. Spray it gold and draw the Queen's head on it (these last two steps are optional). Now stick it in the slot of shopping trolley at a supermarket of your choice... The more I think about it, the more certain I am it's Lidl who sell them. They're fruit bowls which explains the flattened bottom. The two circles are handles, I would guess...
Ah! That explains the other mystery; why the front of the guard is flattened. So it's just a (bit strange) fruit bowl. I guess it fill it's function as a guard perfectly, but it do look a bit strange on a bowl fire to me.
