Hello first post for a lamp. Picked up an old 300x in a fair state. Was brushed painted green and tried to remove this coat only with partial success.. Looks a little rough. The burner or a least the air nuts appear to have been changed? The pressure indicator now works perfectly after paint removal. New seals fitted and a replacement hood lid ordered, the corroded original was black enamel underneath. Will fit mantle after hood lid replaced. Important lesson learnt about pump assembly, the nut slots go against washer to allow pump tube air fill. These lamps seem better engineered than Tilly lamps
Now that’s interesting… I got an identical 300x recently - same style, large early filler cap/pressure screw, black hood etc, but with later style nuts fitted too. Coincidence or a crossover maybe? Mines very much still in the early stages though and I really do need to get that hood and control cock to @steerpike451 this week!
Yes, I am a little confused by the lack of hexagon air nuts. It did look as if it had fettled at some point, the seals weren't that aged. There was crude writing on the tank, illegible but deliberate. It could be a rebuild but all the parts look correct for an earlier version?
