A friend of mine found this for me a few a few months ago, it is all original with the sunshine of the night globe which is cracked so I had to put a later globe on for lighting, all I had to do was give it a clean, fill with fuel and put a mantle on it and it lit up straight away, it is the wrong mantle, too large but it works fine, there is a little paint loss around the filler cap,the hood is in mint condition and it is dated 4 ,47, hope you like.
Regards to all and best of christmas wishes to everyone.

An excellent example of a 249 Scout which is one of my favourite lanterns. They run well and plenty bright.

It still looks to be in a very good condition.
They are mostly beat up when found so yours is a great find even with the cracked globe.

I was told it had been hanging up at the back of the owners garage for an awful lot of years without them ever remembering seeing it used.

A fine example. It is close to being pristine. It must have been seldom used over the years.
Paint loss around the filler cap is quite common. That's where the paint is likely to be softened or compromised by fuel/solvent spills or fuel spurts during pressure relief by loosening the cap.
