It’s nice when something turns up 5 mins down the road! Looks to be a Tilley TL 106 (second) with original parchment shade, similar to one @Buggerlugs has in the gallery. The shade is pretty rough as to be expected, but I’ll get my sewing kit out and stitch the trim back on. The paint looks good so I might clean the fount a little. Glass globe doesn’t look correct because a preheater won’t fit underneath it - looks more like a Kayen globe. A dirty but “Lovely Lamp”, worthy of some attention.
When you’re ready, photos of the glass would be good. Does it have a seam? Nice shade. I’ve got a few remnants of one! Cheers Tony
I’ve never seen a globe with a seam from being cast in a mould, I’ll clean it up and have another look
Nice find @Buckaroo. I think these shades are usually trashed but it’s still better then the one I have.
Well here she is! Pleased with how the fount cleaned up - meths did the job to wipe away the black gunk with soap and water finishing it off. @Tony Press - the globe is quite thin, and has roughly cut edges and no seam. As you say it’s more of a teardrop shape. The globe on my other 106 is onion shaped and marked Tilley Durosil 182. Will put it on display with a couple of Coleman’s for a few of weeks.
That’s a very nice teardrop globe! It may have been made for Tilley/Kayen in Australia during WWII. The Base Camp reproduction teardrop globes are quite solid and are well finished. You should put this example in the Reference Gallery. Cheers Tony
