    A kind shop gave it to me for free.
    It's an unused M1.

    I believe that a lantern should be used as a tool, but as the box is still in good condition, I'm debating whether to light it or not.

    I have other lanterns, so I will just leave this one unused and look at it.

    One day when I go to heaven, I will give it to a new owner.
    Thank you.

    I love free gifts, especially one as nice as this, in my opinion I would keep it unlit seeing as you have plenty of other lamps to use, it's only new once.

    Why would you want to use use a brand new, in original box, paraffin pressure lantern as "a tool" in Japan in 2025, especially when you seem to have other, already used, lanterns you could press into service? It beats me... :-k

    @Jean J

    Yes, I'm grateful to the person who gave it to me.

    @Mr cod

    Yes, I also plan to give this lantern to someone for free someday.

    @David Shouksmith

    You are absolutely right.
    When I received this lantern, I intended to light it, but I decided to follow the wishes of the previous owner who had kept it unlit and just look at it.

    @ROBBO55

    After enjoying the view, I decided to let M1 go back to a long sleep.
