This Wizard hollow wire supply tank was made by AW Dobbie & Co. Ltd of Adelaide, South Australia. AW Dobbie & Co. Ltd were a long-standing brass foundry from the mid 1800s and Dobbie himself was quite an inventor, entrepreneur, and eccentric (see: A. W. Dobbie - Wikipedia). I’ve not done anything to the tank, it is as received (even with a little bit of naphtha still in the tank). It’s the tank shown in this thread. In a month or so, I’m setting up a hollow wire corner in my shed and I’ll get this tank cleaned and operating then. @Marko57 has some Wizard tanks here: WIZARD HOLLOW WIRE TANKS. They do breed after dark. This is the diagram of how the tank works: [Source: https://classicpressurelamps.com/threads/wizard-lighting-systems-australia-1925.23352/] Cheers Tony
Nice Tank Tony, I have one myself though mine is Gloria Light Co, Same idea to run my holow wire lamps. According to the brochure the fluid is likley Benzine in your tank... Best, Brian
@Ole Larson Benzine is a form of naphtha. In the early Australian pressure lamp advertising etc “benzine” or “Benzine”was widely used. Australia didn’t adopt “gasoline”, “gas”, or “white gas” into general use. “Petrol” was/is the term used for what the North Americans call gasoline. The small amount of fuel in the tank has the sweet smell of pure naphtha rather than automotive gasoline. Cheers Tony
