This is the second ball of rust I bought last week. The main body of the lamp is identical with the National posted earlier and as with that lamp it has a valve block marked as "Original Paramount" and a control wheel embossed with "Original Marshal". This one came with an inner hood and I did think it might run because it has all the burner parts. However the inner hood is not rusted at all and I suspect is not original to the lamp because the J tube will not line up correctly with the jet and consequently the jet of vaporised fuel only partially enters the tube and the mantle burns black. ::Neil::
Well done Neil for finding some of the more obscure lamps. You Sir, are a true collector and researcher. I take my hat off to you once again. Keep up the good work. Regards - Steve.
Obscure is right. There are a lot of odd lamp brands made in India and Pakistan. Most are small operations only selling product locally and very few make it out to where we can see them and I can record them. From the parts I suspect this guy made the same lamp with maybe half a dozen or more brand names. ::Neil::
Hi Neil i havae all so noticed what a great collection of lamps and knowledge you have a true expert in this field. Looking at both the Manchester and National i agree with your therory of the same guy making both brands. Will you be restoring them to working order
Just the pasage of time. Been collecting for 47 years and a few lamps and some info has stuck. Not sure they are worth it. The Manchester runs but is not good and the inner hood is missing in the National. The inner hood on the Manchester is almost certainly the wrong one and I am not about to spend much on them. Maybe one day if I get bored enough. ::Neil::
