I'm about finished refurbishing my second lantern, circa 1936-41 Prentiss-Wabers 742.43. Bought it on Ebay and am awatiing a gasket and leather pump cup to arrive. Hopefully it will light up and provide more "Hiss therapy" in the evenings...

Very nice, Bruce. These lanterns are built like tanks.

I've got a leak here (see video) and need help. This round O-ring I put on it doesn't help.....

This is where the leak is and the O-Ring hasn't fixed it.

I'll have to check on my L43S, I know they are not the same model but I don't think mine has a gasket where the pump tube meets the fount. IIRC the pump tube just threads in until tight.

Just checked my L43PA - same model different number - and there's no gasket between pump and fount. As @Kgam1020 says "the pump tube just threads in until tight."
If you can't stop it leaking, you could try a little Teflon tape on the threads.

Just love the looks of the lantern. The kind of ruggedness no longer found in most appliances today.

    Hi Bruce

I'm working on a PW L13 and your photos are very helpful. I got a M1950 pump rebuild kit from OCP and am trying to reassemble.

However when fitted on and nutted down to the pump handle stem, the pump leather is / seems to be, way too large to fit into the tube.

I doubt the wrong size pump leather would have been sent so am I missing something?

    Thank you Cole

For the life of me I can’t remember what size leather pump cup I used on my L43S. I think it was a Tilley cup.. IMG_9523.jpeg

Thank you Bruce for such a quick reply! (Then again, I suspect you might be snow bound down in MA too ;-)

Your photo helps greatly and show the leather is much smaller in diameter than what came with the rebuild kit an more similar in diameter to what Im trying to replace.

Now... any idea where you order it from?

    Hi Cole.

My name is Ken. I'll have to fix my account info. Yes, we got a good amount of snow in our area. I'd say 16-18'' with around 3 more coming today. I ordered my pump cup from Fettle Box.

Hi Ken, no need to to fix your account info, I mistakenly greeted you with Bruce (Cummings) which is where the thread originated from...

Thank you too for the Fettle Box tip.

Now, to start digging out...or maybe I'll just have another cup of coffee...and place that order!
