This Optimus 930 was passed on to me by a local collector here in the States. The story on the shade it was delivered to the US by Erwin Schaefer on one of his trips to the States from Juergen at Hytta.
The shade is no longer available but here it the link: Detailseite: Optimus Stoffschirm- - hytta.de
It is a great running lantern, I can picture a Swiss Army officer or clerk doing his paperwork by the light of this lantern. Enjoy, I know I sure am. 20260203_201829.jpg 20260203_201458.jpg 20260203_201611.jpg 20260203_201727.jpg 20260203_201753.jpg

Gosh @Dean D you must be over the moon. Lovely lamp on its own but having the shade and handle is definitely the icing on the cake.

To the best of my knowledge, the Swiss army never used this shade and I am fairly certain that they did not use the Optimus 930. It would have been a Swedish officer doing his paperwork.

If I remember correctly, there should be three crowns stenciled on one side of the green cloth. This is the symbol for the Swedish military.

Another correction is that the Swedish military were never issued with the glass handle for the 930. This was a purely civilian accessory together with the chequered shade (making it the 930A).
