Help dating if possible and a bit of advice One of 4 early straight leg bail 246 lamps I have to restore Tank stamped TilleyEngland … but no Date stamp on the underside just Made in England Grooved tank so from reading @Mackburners posts as it’s not date stamped it’s pre Nov 1956 and as it’s a grooved tank it’s 1954 - 1957 ?? The base appears to be inserted “lip up” so if I’m right that confirms pre 1957 ?? I’ve started to clean it up and have a question on the burner . One of the spigots is loose , it looks like the burner has lost the thread not the spigot , as this is “air in” for combustion , is it an issue to run it just pushed in and not threaded in tight ?
The air tubes need to be sealed.. even a turn or two loose will cause issues repairs are possible .. Tony Press for one has repaired them with silver solder and posted the results or you could source a replacement? @Tony Press regarding the date..
Completed the resto on this one , not everyone’s taste to polish , but the blemishes remain to tell the history
