    Hi fellas, I haven’t had this Ditmar 505 going for a couple of years. Fresh kerosene, fuel cap seal, oil the pump cup. Check the jet and Pricker. Then away it goes. It’s very cool. IMG_2685.jpeg IMG_2684.jpeg

    Very cool, Darryl. Especially with the original glass cylinder! I have not seen one of these with this big logo over here in Europe, although I have collected lots of Ditmar lanterns (I like Austria very much).

    I didn't know glass like this existed.
    I've never seen anything like it before either.

    I love Ditmar, so I'm very envious of you.:clap:

    Hi fellas
    @Camp numao

    @JEFF JOHNSON
    Thanks for your replies.
    I acquired the lantern from the late Vic Tipman years ago now. It was in pristine condition. Tragedy struck and my lamp fell about 2.5 metres to the ground. Smashed the globe bent things I was not happy balled my eyes out. I had other lamps go down with it.
    I made repairs as best I could, the globe was original, but I had this one made reproduction. I sourced the globe then I knew a fella who was in the trophy’s business. He put me on to a mob that can engrave /. Etch glass so I contacted them, asked the group for digital pictures of the Dotmar brand logo, I got 4 different versions, one was the same logo that was broken, with a few directions the trophy mob reproduced the logo on the globe. I was over the moon. I do light it up now and then as a memory of Vic. I’m glad you like my post from time to time. I have a big variety of lanterns all of which I’ve bought back into service. Remember not everything needs to be extra shiny to be beautiful. The sun in a jar is what makes me happy to see.
    Thank fellas
