Working on the restoration of this Petromax 828 Super Rapid lantern. As it had a lot of oxidation on it I had to clean it quite hard.

The fount had the non serviceable NRV so it has to be changed. Is it possible to use the Optimus type of NRV?

    How old is the lantern?

The fount is marked with four digits, 1114. A date marking?

The lantern is marked Made in Germany.

More pictures will be posted later.

    Regards Matti

Thanks! Then my lantern could be from 1961.

    Regards from Sweden

This Petromax 828 was manufactured in 1971,not 1961.
Her are three features that were not present in 1961.
The one-way valve also did not exist in 1961.

Cool then that I, born 1969, is two years older than this lantern from 1971. Maybe I am also as full of oxide as the lantern…..

Here it is running! It runs wery good.
It lacked a spirit cup for preheating so installed one from a Optimus 1550. Noticed that it has a 250 CP Petromax jet and needle. Seems to run well with 250 jet and needle even though its a 350CP lantern.

    Have a nice weekend!
