Cap on my recently acquired 246 is in really good condition , however it has a strange black staining to the enamel

Is it likely that this is how it was manufactured, poor quality control ?

If not has anyone cleaned one before , I’ve tried Autosol , a light abrasive polish and the staining remains .

    Any pointers greatly received

I do have a brand new cap , but prefer to salvage OEM parts where possible

In my opinion, that is just the result of use and the passage of time.

I have also seen this on other enamel hoods from different brands. I assume it is an age related occurrence. A pure guess could be that there is some sort of chemical reaction with the steel over time.
