Hey I got a Australian made Coleman scout 249 and I want to do a deep clean ahead of what will likely be heavy use, however I'm wondering how to get the valve assembly off to clean the fuel pickup ect

Do I use a powertools known as a impact wrench and if so how do I know what docket attachment I need. I need to get the assembly off.
Also in terms of specifics, it was made in 1958 in Sydney.
    Pls help

Also the nut holding the valve assembly to the font, is it most of the time a 1/2 12.7mm nut?
    Is this universal

To remove the valve assembly from the fount first unscrew the spindle and packing retaining nut, they come out as a combined unit.

The value is removed by gently holding the valve in a vice and turning the tank by hand.

Remember to use something to protect the valve from damage (leather, etc).

Coleman use a thread sealer during assembly. A little heat or allowing acetone to seep into the thread can sometimes help.
