Bought off eBay as a Coleman CQ but identified later for me as an Akron 101G. It’s in nice condition but I noted the following:- No info on wheel No info on fuel cap Unusual (to me anyway) base plate. The shade is my own, came off an Aladdin lamp.
Ah there it is .. Well done it would probably fire up ok without too much bother? that base is also seen on some Evening Star lamps? perhaps others too? i must admit to being a bit confused about all the different lamps using Akron based bits pb
The only lamp I know of with that style of base-plate is Kildark. Some valve wheels are marked "KILDARK" BRITISH MADE, others are unmarked. I can't get at my Kildark wall lamp to check the filler cap but from memory, it's unmarked.
Hello Jean, it's cleaned up well and it's not a common lamp! It's possible that Kildark / Evening Star imported that model of lamp for sale in the UK., but until some relevant paperwork turns up all we can do is speculate. The first link below shows Conny's example of that lamp and it is marked, the next two links show the Evening Star and Kildark pages and the last link shows a Kildark wall lamp which has the same base plate as the one on your lamp, but not all Kildark wall lamps have that base plate, so those base plates are probably from a particular period. Hello Jean, in my opinion, it does not really matter who marketed that lamp, it's a rare one and it's been saved.
