Bought it for the globes as they can be used on Coleman and Tilley table lamps. When they arrived I found that the lamps are branded as Cadac (South African gas lamp, stove and paraffin blow torch manufacturer). They have a lower screw on ceramic mantle holder for a string tie mantle which is much more cost effective compared to a preformed Veritas mantle.
Interesting design. What is the central tank for? Can it be rotated so it can be used as a hanging lamp (similar to hollow wire)?
The central tank is decorative and the pipework is fixed. The riser pipe is an extra with a male thread which screws directly into the gas bottle and female thread on top which the lamp fitting screws directly into.
Interesting. Veritas also made the more common half frosted spherical globes that fitted fixed wall lamps. Those globes could also be fitted to Tilley galleries though not quite an exact fit. The inverted mantles are common to both. I was wondering if they operated on low pressure gas or straight from the cylinder (ie no regulator) and it seems the latter. I haven’t seen this double lamp unit and it is a nice piece of Veritas gear. The mantle adaptor you mentioned is fascinating too.
