I'm currently fettling a phoebus 615, it was quite rusty.
I cleaned a few parts, which is now mostly rust free, (preheater cup, cage) which was originally nickel plated i think, but there is very little nickel remained sadly. What would be the best way to protect it from further rusting?

Also i'm not quite sure what to do with the tank which is also quite rusty.
I cleaned the other parts with citric acid + washing soda, but i'm afraid, that it would hurt the original phoebus sticker.
What would be the best way to clean it, and protect it from the rust? PXL_20260822_165629604.jpg PXL_20260822_165504858.jpg

You can use motorcycle fuel tank rust remover to protect the iron.
Products like the one at the URL below are commonly available in Japan.

I used this solution on the iron tank of a Ditmar 506, and I haven't had any issues at all.
I imagine similar products are available in your country as well, so please try looking for one.

    Hello Kristof
I also had a Phoebus 615 with a very rusty tank. I stripped the paint and then sanded it. Unfortunately, the sticker also had to come down. I'll print it out again when I get the chance. I'll attach a picture of my tank. Good luck

    That is nice!
I think i will also repaint it after i stop grieving the old one.
May i ask, what did you do with the preheater cup, and the other nickel plated parts?

    Hello Kristof

I took heat-resistant oven paint, derusted the parts and then sprayed and burned them.

This is what mine looks like now.

    Good luck.

    Michael
