I found this at a local junk shop moments after finding it's AGM equivalent. What a day! I have left the paint as is, even though it is rough. I generally do not repaint unless the paint is either 1) entirely missing (see my AGM USFS post), or 2) incorrectly repainted by a prior owner (see my 235 post). Small "button" green ventilator, Coleman stamped mica from another less deserving lantern, and running a R-55 generator. Note the faint service center scratch marks in the second image common to these government owned models.
I just found an L427 USFS I think it’s dated 7/1937 it is embossed and also has a department of agriculture decal above embossed letters how common is this?
Welcome aboard! That's a lucky find and it cleaned up well and whilst those are not the most common of Coleman lanterns they do turn up once in a while.
