    Hi Guys

Just fettling a couple of X246B's for a buddy, and came across this.....

    WhatsApp Image 2026-08-28 at 15.05.14.jpeg

Never seen this before. Will any mantle suit this as in, one size fits all or do I order a special BR mantle ( is that a thing ?) Or do I just take a hacksaw to it, cut it down to size and show it whos boss... ???

I think I have a spare one (small) knocking around somewhere. Should I just swap it out.

Any and all advice also information will be greatly appreciated. Every thing I know about lamps I learned here.....I know you guys have this. Thanks.

Those mantles are rated at 300 cp., as are those Tilley X-246-B lanterns which you are currently fettling, but the build quality of the more modern Tilley burners and vapourisers and control cocks and pumps is poor.
The link below shows a thread which may be of interest and I added images and a description which describe and show an improved Tilley X-246-B lantern.
