But a Wick to a feuerhand 276, I understand it should be 1/2 inch or 12mm Wide -It is to be used in a 276/70, so longer than standart 276 I think, and could be nice to have some ekstra for other lamps to, so could be a longer "cut to fit" length.... I am aware of the need of a felt-help-wick also, but for now the lamp is full, and it should be burning no problem, as long as it is... But no, wick degrade is high and light dims, relative fast (15/20 minuts or so), compared to my normal 276, both are with "sturmkappe" Is some Wick-brands better than others ? And where do i buy it? -The good one's... not sure the one i got is top quality... or... is there a secret trick, I don't know aboult ? Best regards, Henrik
Hi Henrik, There are wicks where the cotton has been impregnated with wax beforehand to make them easier to work with. Naturally, wicks like that don’t draw the kerosene very well! Your observation that the lantern gets dimmer and dimmer after about 15 minutes fits with this. It’s no longer drawing enough kerosene. The simplest thing you can do is remove the wick and wash it thoroughly. I’d also recommend using a strip of felt to help draw the kerosene. Best regards, Jörg
I Got a Wick and felt from "Starcklichte" It looks ok, besides the felt seems a little thinner, but wider, tryed to move it all the way up under the "burner/regulator" with no difference, think I will try to source som thicker felt and wash the wick in som paint thinner, that would probably desolve, if there is wax in it. -yes, I am aware it needs to dry completly, before using it after / before installing it again... Still, if any one knows, if there is better/worse Wick's ?
