Yesterday evening, The Missus came into the living room holding one of my (2 ) table lamps saying "will you light this one tonight?" Course my dear!! So, the CQ stood there, happily hummin' away for the entire evening. 8) Best regards, Wim
I'm happy and relieved to know that she finally has you trained to pump up a favorite lamp and light it on request. A lot of us fellow would have balked, you know, and not complied, finding it easier to just flip on the overhead lights.......( ya...right...) piper
My wife is also beginning to show an interest. She is joining me at a bonfire and Tilley lamp event this Saturday, and wants to take her own lamp. Of course, when I asked her what fount colour she would prefer, she said "pink" but the nearest I could offer was red. Or silver, to match her hair... no, perhaps I'd better not mention that!!
By now Phil, you should have enough lamps to be able to find one and spray it pink especially for her. There is no excuse. Besides collecting will be easier if you keep the missus happy.
The outcome is that the XYL* liked the silver Tilley and has suddenly become very keen on pressure lamps! I have a rather scruffy duplicate X246B in red, which I might well respray in pink as a surprise Christmas present for her... * Amateur Radio Morse code shorthand for "wife"; YL = Young Lady, XYL = ex-Young Lady. I think this is more politically correct than "SWMBO" but not as funny
