Here is a rather well aged however still very funtional Model 18 (thanks to Neil agian for an ID). I had a mantle on it and it burns very brite and steady. The old mica is in fair shape,and good enulf to keep with the lantern, but an Email to Fred Kuntz may be coming soon. I still merval at how reliable these old lamps and lanterns are. Blow off the dust replace the cap washer and off she goes. I guese it come down to the less parts there are the less that can go wrong. Enjoy the pics. Rick
Must say I haven't posted in a while but this is an excellent example of a great lantern. I like the Nulite and it's rebadged friends a lot! Always been fond of one of these real Nulites but the shipping costs don't seem too kind to me. Mah, guess I'll have to keep starting at these posts. Are you kidding me!? You can get a lantern from the states shipped for around $50.00, give or take. That's not much money since the dollar is so bloody cheap now, and I'd say go for it while it lasts. You don't know when it gets high again. Or - horrible thought - our krona becomes lesser valued.
You're absolutely right Christer, but the point is - $50 is normally the price I pay for a lantern. For a decent lantern you might pay close to $50 too and for that amount of money, my budget is shot. Mind you - $50 isn't bad for having a lantern shipped from the US but that extra dollars seem just too much to me. I'm comparing the relatively infamous Swedish auction site and the US Ebay here. I prefer auctions and local estate sales here which have given me some lanterns and table lamps for prices you can't beat. Not that I do not like bidding sites like Epay - but those shipping costs...
