Howdy, came across this forum during my search for parts to fix up a Coleman Quicklite table lamp. I enjoy outdoors, but todays freezing rain drove me inside. I have several lanterns, none are antiques, in various stages of assembly, but this was my first table lamp. I found a globe in an antique store, and have a r55 generator coming in the mail. The lamp does not have a model number but 5 8 has been stamped below the logo on the side of the tank. This lamp belonged to my wifes great grandmother who used it on a farm in Oklahoma before electricity got to the farm. I am looking forward to getting the lamp up and running. Mainly wished to say thanks for the info I have already got from the site and will get in the future. Steve C. North Platte, Nebraska.

OK here is a before photo. Hopefully I can put up the after phot in a few days. I used a bike pump and it holds pressure. I have not dunked it, but will before lighting.

Hello Steve, those old CQ., lamps restore well, the link below shows one which I restored and it was in very rough condition.

The pumps for them are often listed on Ebay USA., Jeff.

Nice old timer. Made August of 1925 and will surely work rather well after a light fettle. ::Neil::

    Hi Steve,

I have a few of these lamps, and they do come back to life brilliantly! (pun intended)

You've landed in one of the best neighborhoods on the Internet, so make yourself comfy and enjoy the company.

I got the R55 in the mail today. Screwed right in. The lamp had not been burned in roughly 50 years, so I was a little apprehensive about lighting, but following the advise gleaned on this forum she fired right up. There was some soot at first and a couple of pops, but it quickly changed to a brilliant white light. I am amazed at the small amount of fumes emitted by the lamp.

I found this globe for 15 dollars. It is hand painted but I am unsure if it is vintage or a reproduction. either way I am happy with the look. Thanks for all the help. Now I need to get out the metal polish.

    Yeah, surely does!

Birdshot, you need to edit your post so that the image code for each pic is on a separate line to the text. It looks much neater that way and it'll probably save Christer a job sorting it out...

Actually I hadn't changed them! (I have now.)
This is a phenomena some people see, and other don't. It all comes down to which resolution you have on your monitor.
People like me, and apparently David, has a higher resolution, meaning that the image still will fit next to the text when people don't press enter one or more times before putting in the image code.
Actually most people don't do the "carriage return" before the image is positioned, mening more job for me just as David says, or that the post look bad for some of us.

To illustrate, here is how it look on low resolution (small monitors, or just set on low):

It looks pretty OK, even if i would prefer a blank line between the text and image. But the fact that it looks almost as it shall, is probably the reason people don't react themself when making a post.

But this is how the very same post appears to me, and many others. Not so nice!

So this is a good opportunity to ask you all to please press "return" one or two times before any image is inserted!
    Thanks.
