hello all a friend of mine have found this optimus 826. the glass and the fount are marqued "optimus 826 made in Sweden" it looks like a Sea Anchor I searched on the Web but I did find this lamp (only the 821 on this forum) is anyone have some idea of the age of this lamp ? A catalogue ?
Hi Michel, this lamp is quite easy to date. As far as we know, they were only produced for one year in 1930. Apparently Petromax did not like them using the same numbers as their lamps even though they are an identical copy of the Petromax items of the time. They are also quite rare as this is only the second one I have ever heard of. I have never heard of an original glass so be very careful with it. All in all a very nice item and I am very jealous.
many thanks Nils My friend will be very happy have you an idea of the look of the missing knob ? or a catalogue ? I guess it looks like the knob of this period but ... this lamp needs to be complemented.
Sorry about that. I should have been more specific. As you had mentioned the 821 on this forum, I guessed you knew it was owned by trevor. Anyway here is the link to it in the gallery. [url=http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/4233 I didn't realise it was in the fettling forum as well (Michal's link)
