Very smart lanterns! However, with meths costing over £5 per litre in the UK., I won't be getting one, unless it's to be a shelf queen, Jeff.
Thanks for the information James; unfortunately my nearest B&Q store is in Aberdeen, (if it's still there) so I would have a round trip of about 490 miles! Hello Michal, British Customs officials are not keen on illegal stills! Jeff.
Actually, no - they (HMRC - Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) are not keen on people making their own alcohol because they wouldn't be able to collect the duty that would be payable on it...
I once stayed by Mats Boring at Mossjön in Sweden near Jönköbing and asked Mats if I he knew a place to buy homemade alcohol. He took me around my shoulder, pointed and said "do you see that church and that school over there - there you can not buy homemade alcohol". We used a parafin-hipolito that evening at the fire-place though. Claus C
Yes, Claus. That is the standard comment in most small Swedish places. It's easier to point out who doesn't make their own boose than those who does. Or rather, it used to be. The moon shining isn't quite as common nowadays as it was before. I haven't done any alcohol myself for several years now, even if I often think about running a batch. It's a nice hobby, and you save alot of money on it.
8) Yes Christer and the homemade I tasted even taste better than industrialmade. I stick to making beer and wine - but it doesent fill my lamp Claus C
Yes, the homemade stuff is much better than the bought one if you've done it proplerly. It's the best of all spirits for a favourite of mine: Kaffehalv (Half coffee half spirit and some sugar), which also is the ultimate test that you've done a good job since any residual fusel oils will be mercilessly revealed in hot coffee.
