Hello folks, I picked up this Optimus 200 today from a collectables shop for a very reasonable price. I don't know much about these lamps but it looks fairly complete with the original glass. It seems to be in good condition with only a small dent above the 'P' in Optimus on the tank. Can anyone give an indication of age ? I have had a look in the gallery section and I see there are different variations of these lamps but I am unsure what version my lamp falls under ? Hope the photos are of interest. Thanks Dave
Hello David, I reckon that it's pre WW2., but perhaps some of the Swedish collectors can give a more precise date. I also obtained on of those lanterns recently, the link below tells that story, Jeff. http://classicpressurelamps.com/index.php?threads/5128
If all parts are original to the lamp then it is from the mid 1930s. Maybe as late as 1938. It is what I call a variation 1c as it is the third variation of the first style of 200.
Thanks Jeff and Nils, thats good to know. Quite pleased with this latest find, is a nice proportioned lamp. I had an Optimus 300 a few years ago but traded it on as I never quite liked it for some reason. I will see if I can get some life out of this one and post up the results when I get a chance. Regards Dave
