Maybe not very wise decision... I've got this Mil-Spec AFM '67. From the outside -- it looks quite good, only in same places there is no paint on the fount. When Coleman turned into GI Joe... There is quite interesting gizmo in the pump cylinder -- rectangular bar, turned with the pump knob. It allows to release pressure from the tank, I think. The air tubes are heavily rusted. Wire brush and anti-rust will be engaged. Leather of the pump was bone-dry, so I treated it with mink oil, to 'feed' it. It seems to produce some pressure. The bigger issue is that the turning knob is not turning -- something is blocking it. Any ideas, what happens in such a case in similar Coleman lanterns?
The square shaft connected to the pump knob is part of the safety system. You have to open the valve seat to be able to pump the fount. When you're done pumping, you're supposed to rotate the pump handle clockwise to close the safety valve. Very common on Coleman lanterns.
Thanx. The turning knob shaft is jammed. Some penetrating oil should help, if not -- heating with mini-torch should release it, I hope...
