Finally it's finished and what a long job it proved to be... Many thanks to Steve (Shed-Man) for his wonderful hood, which I'm sure you'll all agree looks great.

Is that an off-the-shelf colour (in which case, what is it?) or did you have it matched and made up? Nice restoration... Typo in the title again, though, Chris. Tut-tut!
I can't claim originality as someone else had used it previously, but it's Rover Damask Red from Halfords... Those Rover colours seem to come in handy for lamp restorations It just wasn't my day...
This thread wouldn't be complete without at least one action shot... The odd thing is that the fitted mantle was described as a Tilley/Bialaddin/Vapalux mantle and in my opinion it isn't right for any of them. For a start it's come up about half the size, but more importantly, subjectively, half as bright! It looks OK in the photo, but it really isn't very bright at all...
Obviously not so warm tonight, the beer hasn't evaporated completely. Best be quick though as its on its way.
