Hello, from Indiana. Burning some "white gas" in my Colemans. There is one lamp which is not a Coleman, it is a "Mil-Spec" from my time in the U.S. Army. I would love to start adding some European lanterns to my little collection..Great web site.
Um, I haven't got a Sun Flame 78. Is there a Coleman (or preferably, other) alternative? The one I took off it the other night looked like a Coleman but it seemed rather small - although it worked well enough I suppose. I'm thinking the mantle doesn't need to be too large otherwise it'll get too close to the aluminium generator...
Hello David, the Sun Flame 78 is a 200cp., mantle, so I reckon that any 200cp., bag mantle should do, Jeff.
David, my Mil-Spec works well with a Coleman 21A Silk-Lite. I have some Sun Flame 78s, but until the current mantle breaks, I'm leaving it alone. Greendohn, Welcome from Massachusetts. Start adding some European lanterns and your collection won't be small for long. Nice picture. Dan
David, you said: "Even better photo! " oh... I thought it was just because he lived somewhere on the planet between where you live and where I live....
Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments. I generally run the #21 mantles on the Mil-Spec, I still have a couple of the original mantles that came with the lantern, un-burnt they appear bigger than the 21's. It is certainly a temperamental unit to light and run! I've got a couple of other lanterns that I need to "fettle" with before getting serious with the European lamps..Again, thanks for the comments. Peace.
