Eight weeks or so ago I bought a Monitor 300 stove. Then a Primus No.1 then a Primus No.5 followed by a Burmos 21 and today I bought another Primus No.5 and.... My first lamp. Which I think is a Bialaddin 300x
It's probably not running perfectly, but it's much better than it appears in that photograph. whch looks decidedly poor now that I look at it.
Hi frg7700, well done on your first lamp and a fantastic one at that. The 300x is my favourite Bialaddin model, and is a popular lantern with a lot of collectors. The 300x is a really well made and built lantern, I have a maroon 300x which is my favourite colour in the range, it is very nice when you come across one with a enamelled hood in good condition like your one
Nice lamp, i'm sure with a little fettling it'll be running fine, good to see someone else using a wheelie bin workbench...

Oh yes, although it's been a while since I actually fired up the FRG. Lowe HF225 is the tool of choice these days.
Many years ago now I had an old Marconi transceiver that took two people to move let alone carry... I think it came from a ship as it was a lovely admiralty grey... but many happy hours picking up distant foreign stations and the only way you could in those days... Sadly the Marconi is long since dead and I now use a motorised satellite dish to watch foreign TV, mostly German and French...
I started off with the "SW" band on stepdad's Bush transistor... Graduated to Russian "Vega" which my mum bought from an ad in the Sunday paper, the a Sanyo RP8800, which was an odd old set with a crystal tome tuning marker and, crucially a BFO. The the Yaesu I take my moniker from which I still have. But about a decade ago a Lowe225 came up on E-Bay, low start price and no bids. threw a few quid on it at the last minute and got it. Dead simple radio, no flash on it at all but a lovely receiver, wish I'd had it in the late Eighties/early nineties when the bands were so much more fun. I'm going to have to try this SDR business at some stage though. Back to lamps. Need to wait for Ross to come back from holiday!
