1912-1915 Liotard Aine table lamp

Hi all,

Here comes my newest restoration project, a Liotard Aine table lamp.
This is a ca 1912-15 Liotard Aine table lamp with a 100 CP gasoline burner. This is one of the very first pressure table lamp made in France; we know only of an earlier 1910 Brodier table lamp and the twin lamp of my lamp – the Levebre table lamp of 1912.

This lamp is equipped with an “Aine burner” built on the “Lefebvre system”. The reason for that is that in 1912 the Levebre Company was overtaken by Liotard Aine. With a few minor modifications the Lefebvre burner was launched as the Aine burner that is now present on my lamp. This burner head is seen throughout another decade in the Liotard Aine catalogues from 1920 and 1922.

You can perhaps notice a similarity exterior wise (not burner wise) of this lamp and some of the Unic lamps. We can now establish a link with E. Brodier/G. Lefebvre and Liotard Aine, but also with E. Brodier and Unic Lumiere. Exactly how these companies interact with each other and the time line here is still to comprehend and establish.

I don’t have any before images as this lamp came in a pristine condition. It didn’t burn well in my first attempt; but after finding a new jet in my “France parts drawer” it fired up nicely.
With a well built, simple and fine engineered burner construction and a hell of a grandeur with extraordinary design, I can put this one as the masterpiece on my display shelf. I wouldn’t trade it for any lamp I could imagine having.

Very nice lamp, Conny - I don't know where you keep on getting all your lamps from.

It must be well over 2 feet tall (60 cm) dwarfing the TL10 as it does...

You have to add 10 extra cm as it reaches over 70 cm, and is only equalled by some of the big American oldies in my collection.
