This one has just landed. It is a model 80 kerosene lamp sold by the The Incandescent Light and Supply Co, of Wichita Kansas. I have it illustrated in a 1915 IL&S catalogue which is about a year after Coleman bought IL&S out. The lamp is actually a Gloria made Knight Light model KK but it has no markings so it has to be IL&S as both Gloria and Knight stamped the brand on the metal plate under the bell cover. As you can see I have had it running but it is poor. Either not enough pressure or my fettle of the generator was inadequate. The shade is an original to this model and is the one illustrated in the 1915 catalogue. The burner shot clearly shows this burner has a supplementary generator heater with multiple slots in the tube running down from the mixing chamber. The last image shows the lamp as bought. ::Neil::
Very nice Neil. From the bottom of the fount to the top of the black center post it looks just like the Coleman Ker-O-Lite and the Model "A" Air-O-Lite. Also the air tube is similar on yours and the Model "A" Air-O-Lite. What’s the connection of your lamp to these Coleman lamps? Peter
Well I don't know. Very odd these things. That turban fount for instance appears to be a Coleman. However Gloria also used the Turban and whilst I have one here I can't tell the difference. Coleman never had any business tie in with Gloria or Knight but from these burners and the founts you got to wonder. I have illustrations of both this IL&S 80 and Knight KK. They are the same. Mind you the IL&S is a 1915 illustration which is after Coleman bought them out so the parts on this may well be Coleman. Trouble is I can't tell them apart either way. Maybe Gloria or Knight bought founts from Coleman who knows? ::Neil::
