Anchor 950 Air Gap

Hello all,

I have a couple of Anchor 950s, one which works no problem and the other has low light output and glowing jtube. Is the air gap the same as my Petromax and Hipolitos at 14.2 mm?

Adjusting the air gap might help, but it may be that the vapouriser is full of carbon and that would explain the poor light output etc..

I would strip the entire lantern and clean each part really well and heat and quench the vapouriser and try to get the carbon out of it, Jeff.

please also check whether the jet is not worn, it's screwed in thightly, J-tube paddle is in flow position, correct distance between jet and J-tube adjusted, and that there's no gap between vaporizer and inner hood.
All of these reasons could result in too rich fuel/air mixture, causing the symptoms you described.

Many thanks for your reply Martin, to confirm, is the air gap 14.2 mm as on a Petromax/Hipolito?

 

Air gap should be 13.5mm nominally, but I've got some 350/500HK lanterns (Petromax, Geniol) which work even better with up to 15mm. So just try with around 14mm.
Most important is that the jet blows straight into the hole of the J-tube, and that the orifice isn't enlarged over 0.24mm (for 500HK).
The 350HK lanterns use the same setup except of the orifice, which is only 0.20mm.
