Ok, I never knew that.I know that the Tilley was a British Company but was there any aspect to the Belfast made lamps that was unique to Ireland? Is there any way of telling that the lamp was made in Ireland?

They have references to being made in the United Kingdom rather than Hendon, England. I'm not sure what was on them post-2000.

The Tilley factory was at Dunmurry - as was De Lorean. The British government gave generous subsidies to encourage companies to set up there. I have it from someone who would know that the protection rackets became too much for Tilley so they moved back to England - Guildford and Frimley...

Older pre 1961 English made Tilley if marked was stamped Made in England. All Belfast production is marked Made in the United Kingdom. ::Neil::

I'm not sure how lucky he was, the shipping was so high that I couldn't bring myself to charge him anything for the lamps. He really seemed to want them though! Cheers jim
