I got a WL27 Tilley acouple of weeks ago. When I took the 169 vapouriser off I found it had a broken cleaning wire. Can you repair the wire or is it done for?I have a 606 on it now but it's little short to preheat with a globe on it.

You could fit a new wire but you would need to find someone with spares and prepared to let one go. Tilley used to sell the wires many years ago so there might be some out there but it is rare to find them now. Mind you if the wire is broken the chances are the vaporiser is also shot and you could be wasting cash. Tilley stopped selling wires because nearly always by the time you need a new wire the vaporiser is already half dead anyway so it was never a good solution. I know they are expensive but I think a new 169 is the way to go here. ::Neil::

    Hi Ernie

150 cleaning wire available from Base Camp, but as Neil says a complete vaporiser may be the best bet.

Thanks, but a new 169 isn't in the budget right now.The lamp works well with the 606 vaporiser it's just to short. I'm going to try a weld job on the broken wire ,nothing to lose

Have you tried running the 169 without the wire? Okay, it means that if it blocks up you'll have to take off the burner and manually unblock it with a pricker. I've been running a Bialaddin 300X like this and I don't think I've ever known it to block up. I think you just have to make sure no crap gets into the tank.

Parafinalia also sell pricker wires and they ship internationally:
