Found this on the bay and made a low-ball offer. I guess it wasn't moving since now it's mine I did a quick swap of the washers, put in some fuel, preheated it, and slowly started pumping. Pop, LIGHT! Seemed good, but then I noticed that the joint between the riser and the tank was leaking. It came with a large collar over the top of the tank (in foreground), and that collar prevented the riser from sealing against the top of the tank. Off with the collar, snugged it down, and now no more leak. Disappointed that there is no pressure indicator on this product Also needs some work since I think there are critters in the air tubes of the burner. Anyway, any experience with that silly collar thing?
Enjoy the lamp, Mr Al... but what's that in the aluminium (aluminum) can in the background? PS If it keeps burning like that the "critters in the airtubes" won't last long....
Hi Al, There's a rubber washer in the bottom of the riser which may need replacing. If you've already done this and had no joy, a thicker washer will solve your problem. Henry.
@Tony: Dr. Pepper @Henry: I did replace the washer, so I think a second one is needed. Thank you all!
Hi Al, If you've already put in a new washer, it'll be O.K. to shim it up with another. For anyone else who may have a similar problem, now or in the future, the washer in my TL120A is near enough 1/16 inch but would think when brand new, it would be 3/32 inch. Henry.
I tried to use a standard 246X tank washer, but apparently one was too thin. The second one did the trick and that issue is resolved. FYI: I substituted a 169 vapourizer for the original 606. Much easier to preheat, and I like the appearance better I have a pressure loss issue to resolve, so I'm letting it cool down so that I can dunk test it in the sink a bit later.
The air leak was at the tank fitting below the collar! I sandwiched a pump washer between the collar and the tank and compressed it tightly with the collar nut. All fixed. Even light and BRIGHT! Now to find a shade...
