    Hi
This may seem like a strange post so let me explain. I am a wildlife biologist (retired) and an educator living in Canada. I am interested in our history, particularly that of northern Canada. I still travel in the arctic and I use my experiences, photography and stories to develop presentations about the environment, the wildlife and the people of the north and present to students of all ages as well as seniors and other groups. One of my numerous presentations includes how the Fur Trade and the Hudson Bay Company forever changed the way of living of Inuit people. I use a lot of props in my presentation such as furs, trade items (including lanterns and stoves ) and animal bones and skulls etc. to explain the reason that the fur trade began. I would like to find a "fur top hat" that was made from the beaver "felt' that came from beaver pelts from North America. Perhaps someone in the UK might know of auction sites or shops where such items of history might be available for purchase and shipment to Canada. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am thinking that it might be easier to find such an item in England that here in Manitoba in the centre of Canada.
    Thanks
    Murray

One summer a friend and I conspired to drive from Northern Michigan to Hudson Bay as a college adventure. It didn't happen :(, but we had a lot of fun planning the trip just to see what was "up there".

Well it would have been quite a trip but a bit difficult as the roads don't extend that far. However, you could have taken a canoe and travelled there, a tough journey and worse coming back upstream. It is still a great place to visit and it hasn't changed much in the last several hundred years.
    Cheers

We saw roads for as far as we had planned to travel. One of those college road trips that should have happened but didn't...
